Etymology. Named after Herrn Paul Uko, the finder of the fossil.
Taxonomy
Clemmys ukoi was named by Bachmayer (1957). Its type specimen is NHMW 176/1956, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gramatneusiedl, which is in a Tortonian pond limestone in Austria.

F. Bachmayer 1957 | A Clemmys-like, characterized by a flat and broad carapace. Very broad nuchal or proneural and very broad vertebralia (up to 37 mm wide with a total width of the carapace of 110 mm). Plastron very wide; the pectoral central suture is shorter than the femoral one. Femoral and anal sulci are almost the same length. Sternal bridge takes 1/3 of the total length of the plastron. |
