Taxonomy
Proetus desertus was named by Zhou et al. (2000). Its type specimen is XIG TR465, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is A033. Zhusilenghaierhan area, which is in an Eifelian carbonate limestone in the Yikewsusu Formation of China.
