Taxonomy
Cyrtosymbole (Waribole) superna was named by Chlupáč (1966).

It was recombined as Archegonus (Waribole) supernus by Hahn et al. (1984); it was recombined as Winterbergia (Eowinterbergia) superna by Yuan and Xiang (1998).

Xiang 1998A species of Winterbergia (Eowinterbergia) subgen. nov. with the following features: Glabella moderately vaulted, conical in outline , acutely to obtusely rounded anteriorly, hardly constricted between r - r , with 3-4 pairs of distinct glabellar furrows; occipital ring prominent medially, slightly narrowing laterally; preglabellar field narrow; anterior border narrow, gently upturned, with 2­ 3 terrace lines; anterior border furrow relatively deep; anterior branches of facial sutures long, strongly divergent forward, posterior branches with short straight sections E; - S , running subparallel with the dorsal furrows; palpebral lobe relatively short, more strongly projecting outwards, its outer portion ribbon-like upraised, its inner portion somewhat depressed; !3 rounded , situated beyond longitudinal projection of 0; r and E with a somewhat distance from the dorsal furrows; pygidium moderately vaulted, subparabolic to semielliptical in outline; axis prominent, with 9-10 axial rings and a faint postaxial ridge; pleural area gently vaulted with 7-8 pairs of flat pleural ribs, of which anterior bands are somewhat higher than posterior bands abaxially; pygidial border narrow, slightly padded ; pygidial doublure very broad; sculpture : fine closely spaced short scaly crests up to granules on the surface of the exoskeleton.
