Acheralichnus leonardii was named by Sánchez Roja (2004). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Quebrada de Acheral tracksite, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Yacoraite Formation of Argentina.
