Taxonomy
Bonapartia altidorsalis was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is NMNZ S.46954, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parengarenga Harbour north shore, which is in an Altonian marine sandstone in New Zealand.
