Taxonomy
Ceratoscopelus richardsoni was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is NMNZ S.47212, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kakanui, which is in an Altonian deep subtidal shelf siltstone in New Zealand.
