Taxonomy
Physiculus beui was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is NMNZ S.47248, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oamaru, Beach Road section, which is in an Altonian marine siltstone in the Mount Harris Formation of New Zealand.
