Taxonomy
Solenosteira venturana was named by Loel and Corey (1932). Its type specimen is UCMP 31880 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. A-244, Santa Paula, which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Vaqueros Formation of California.
