Taxonomy
Tritonalia dorrancei was named by Loel and Corey (1932). Its type specimen is UCMP 31617 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. A602, Santa Ynez Mountains, which is in a Miocene coastal conglomerate in the Vaqueros Formation of California.
