Sekwicyathus was named by Handfield (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-l Cm Boto-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ajacicyathida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fallocyathidae by Debrenne et al. (2015).
