Protadjidaumo burkei was named by Russell (1954). Its type locality is Kishenehn Locality E4, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Kishenehn Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Adjidaumo burkei by Fahlbusch (1973), Wood (1980).
