Taxonomy
Excorbula coqua was named by Squires and Saul (2004). Its type specimen is LACMIP 13110 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 10884, Santiago Truck Trail, which is in a Turonian marine sandstone in the Ladd Formation of California.
