Panzacorbula pozo

Bivalvia - Pholadida - Corbulidae

Taxonomy
Corbula pozo was named by Dailey and Popenoe (1966). Its type specimen is LACMIP 8916 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 23774, Pozo district, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marine horizon in California. It is the type species of Panzacorbula.

It was recombined as Panzacorbula pozo by Squires and Saul (2004).

Diagnosis

R. L. Squires and L. R. Saul 2004Shell medium, subpryiform to elongate trigonal. Right valve slightly more inflated than left valve. Lunule deep. Commarginal ribs on left valve very weak to weak, and right valve covered with strong ribs. Keel well developed on juveniles, obsolete on mature specimens. Chrondophore inclined and spoon-shaped with long, narrow pit posteriorly adjoining it.
