Taxonomy
Artionyx gaudryi was named by Osborn and Wortman (1893) [genotype]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Indian Stronghold (Protoceras Channel), which is in a Whitneyan fluvial sandstone in the Brule Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Agriochoerus gaudryi by Hay (1902), Scott (1940), Lander (1998).
