Aletomeryx marslandensis was named by Frick (1937). Its type locality is Marsland, which is in a Hemingfordian/Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Runningwater Formation of Nebraska.

D. R. Prothero and M. R. Liter 2008“Larger than A. gracilis and smaller than S. riparius” (Frick, 1937, p. 162). Horns taller than those of A. gracilis. The p4 tends to be large relative to the much reduced p2-3.
