Protororqualus dyticus
Taxonomy
Plesiocetus dyticus was named by Cabrera (1926). Its type specimen is MDLP 5-13 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Castillo, which is in a Burdigalian/Burdigalian shallow subtidal sandstone in the Gaiman Formation of Argentina.
It was recombined as Cetotheriopsis dyticus by Abel (1938); it was considered an invalid subgroup of Plesiocetus by Fordyce (1991); it was recombined as Protororqualus dyticus by Bisconti and Bosselaers (2021).
