Taxonomy
Astacus politus was named by Schlüter (1868). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Near Ochtrup, which is in a Valanginian/Hauterivian marginal marine siliciclastic in Germany. It is the type species of Protastacus.
It was recombined as Protastacus politus by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Feldmann et al. (2016).
