Teilhardella chardini was named by Jepsen (1930) [genotype]. It is the type species of Teilhardella.
It was synonymized subjectively with Apatemys bellus by West (1973); it was recombined as Apatemys chardini by Bown (1979), Bown and Schankler (1982), Gingerich (1982).
