Hemisaurida hakelensis was named by Goody (1969). Its type specimen is AUB 104710/104786, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hakel (AUB collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal carbonate in Lebanon.
