Taxonomy
Tectus (Tectus) tomasensis was named by Allison (1955). Its type specimen is UCMP 33414, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8317), which is in an Aptian shallow subtidal conglomerate in the Alisitos Formation of Mexico.
