Taxonomy
Buryella was named by Foreman (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than T Eo-m-l Sepkoski's reference number: 686]. It is extant. It was considered unknown by O'Connor (2001).

It was assigned to Artostrobiidae by O'Connor (2001); to Eucyrtidiidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).

O'Connor 2001 Genus consisting of the lineage Buryella granulata (Petrushevskaya 1977) - B. foremanae Petrushevskaya 1977 - B. tridica n. sp. - B. tetradica Foreman 1973, plus the related forms B. pentadica Foreman 1973, B. kaikoura Hollis 1997, B. helenae O'Connor n.sp, and B. petrushevskayae n.

Test of three or more segments, generally fusiform, some species show variable lobate outline due to external expression of intersegmental strictures; cephalis with apical horn of varying length, and distinct vertical pore at collar stricture; aperture constricted, not flared.
