Taxonomy
Phacops (Trimerocephalus) incisus was named by Roemer (1866). It is the type species of Nephranops, Nephranops (Nephranops).

It was recombined as Phacops (Nephranops) incisus by Richter and Richter (1926); it was recombined as Nephranops incisus by Feist and Weyer (2018); it was recombined as Nephranops (Nephranops) incisus by Feist (2019).

Synonyms
  • Proetus muensteri was named by Richter (1869) [Proetus Münsteri].

    It was recombined as Perliproetus muensteri by Pfeiffer (1954); it was synonymized subjectively with Nephranops (Nephranops) incisus by Feist (2019).

Feist 2019Cephalic axial furrows straight, frontal lobe of glabella not overhanging anterior border, of semicircular outline; anterior border furrow deep; pygidium of semicircular to sub-pentagonal outline, slightly truncated behind, axis with straight axial rings; pleural ribs not extending to lateral edges; postero-lateral border region defined against pleural field by break in slope, circumscribing inconspicuous border depression.
