Taxonomy
Pulvinocephalus (Cryphopsides) ovatus was named by Feist (2019) [= 1927 Phacops (Cryphops) cryptophthalmus. – Matern, p. 255. = 2000 Cryphops cf. latilimbatus. – Crônier & Feist, p. 505, pl. 1, fig. 10a–d.]. Its type specimen is SMF-X 563 b, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sessacker Trench II. Bed 5 Lahn-Dill Area., which is in a Famennian carbonate limestone in the Nehden Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Pulvinocephalus (Cryphopsides).
