Taxonomy
Phacops (Phacops) cornelius was named by Richter and Richter (1933). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kornelimünster, which is in a Famennian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Etroeungt Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Phacops (Omegops) cornelius by Struve (1976); it was recombined as Omegops cornelius by Weber (2000).
