Taxonomy
Kirkella accliva was named by Hintze (1953) [Paratypes: 26286-88, 26275 (AMNH).]. Its type specimen is 26289 (AMNH), a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Ptyocephalus accliva by Ross (1970), Young (1973); it was recombined as Ptyocephalus acclivus by Dean (1989).
