Cheirurus clasoni was named by Törnquist (1905).

It was corrected as Cheirurus clasonii by Törnquist (1905); it was recombined as Hadromeros clasonii by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (1991); it was recombined as Hadromeros clasoni by Cocks (2005).
