Mesodalmanella flava was named by Havlicek (1950). It is the type species of Mesodalmanella.
It was recombined as Dalmanella flava by Williams and Wright (1963); it was recombined as Howellites flava by Sennikov (2019); it was recombined as Onniella flava by Sennikov et al. (2019).
