Taxonomy
Citellus wilsoni was named by Shotwell (1956). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is McKay Reservoir, which is in a Hemphillian pond sandstone in the McKay Formation of Oregon.
It was recombined as Otospermophilus wilsoni by Barnosky (1986); it was recombined as Spermophilus wilsoni by Shotwell (1968), Shotwell (1970), Wilson and Reeder (1993), Korth (1994).
