Taxonomy
Colpoclaenus keeferi was named by Patterson and McGrew (1962) [genotype]. Its type locality is Shotgun, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Colpoclaenus.
