Taxonomy
Alontecarcinus buratoi was named by De Angeli and Caporiondo (2019). Its type specimen is IGVR 19.38, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cava di Alonte, Monti Berici (lower levels), which is in a Bartonian carbonate limestone in Italy.
