Taxonomy
Pinus nanfengensis was named by Wang et al. (2017). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Kunming Institute of Botany, NF 245, a wood. Its type locality is Nanfeng Coal Mine, Xianfeng, which is in a Miocene fluvial coal/mudstone in the Xiaolongtan Formation of China.
