Clathrocorona was named by Haeckel (1882) [ Sethopilida. Open triradiate dyocyrtids. B. Coronate Sethopilida (Lampromitrida). Sethopilida with the apertural margin provided with a corona of teeth. - all acute. BII. With second segment cleft into three parts (with three large apertures between three latticed ribs). (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Radiolaria by Haeckel (1882).
