Taxonomy
Matonidium indicum was named by Sahni (1936). It is not extant. Its type locality is 3.2km NE of Himatnagar, which is in a Cretaceous fluvial-lacustrine sandstone in the Himatnagar Formation of India.
It was synonymized subjectively with Matonidium goeppertii by Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
