Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
D. A. Croft et al. 2021A pan-chinchilline that differs from Chin- chilla and Lagidium in having: oblique upper molar laminae (ca. 45° relative to the long axis of the tooth row rather than perpendicular to it); sinuous lower molar laminae (rather than straight or gently curved); a laminar distal lobe of M3 (rather than elliptical to subtriangular); a neurovascular sulcus on the medial floor of the infraorbital foramen laterally delineated by a low crest; a larger and more robust coronoid process; and a complete humeral entepicondylar (supracondyloid) canal. Intermediate in size between Chinchilla lanigera and Lagidium viscacia based on premolar-molar row length and other craniodental measures.
