Taxonomy
Antedon antarctica was named by Carpenter (1881). It is extant. It is the type species of Solanometra.

It was recombined as Solanometra antarctica by Hess and Messing (2011).

Synonyms
  • Antedon australis was named by Carpenter (1888) [Not Antedon australis Carpenter 1882 (now synonym of Craspedometra acuticirra)]. It is extant.

    It was replaced with Heliometra glabra by Clark (1907); it was synonymized subjectively with Solanometra antarctica by Hess and Messing (2011).
