Taxonomy
Comatuladae was named by Fleming (1828). It is extant. Its type is Comatula.

It was synonymized subjectively with Comasteridae by Ubaghs et al. (1978), Hess and Messing (2011); it was corrected as Comatulidae by d'Orbigny (1852), Summers et al. (2014), Souza-Lima and deCastro Manso (2017).

It was assigned to Comatulida by d'Orbigny (1852), Summers et al. (2014), Souza-Lima and deCastro Manso (2017).
