Prosopon (Pithonoton) meyeri was named by Étallon (1859). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Volfin (Saint-Claude), which is in an Oxfordian carbonate limestone in France.
It was recombined as Longodromites meyeri by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
