Taxonomy
Clytiopsis argentoratense was named by Bill (1914). It is a mold. Its type locality is Sulzbach in Elsaß, which is in an Aegean pond claystone in the Grès à Voltzia Formation of France. It is the type species of Clytiopsis.

It was corrected as Clytiopsis argentoratensis by Förster (1967), Gall (1971), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Klompmaker and Fraaije (2011).
