Prosopon richardsoni was named by Woodward (1907). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tor Hill, which is in an Aalenian marine limestone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Tanidromites richardsoni by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweigert and Koppka (2011), Franţescu (2011) and Schweitzer et al. (2012).
