Taxonomy
Lobogalenopsis joei was named by Ferratges et al. (2020). Its type specimen is MPZ 2019/1721 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Peña buildup, branching coral facies, which is in a Priabonian reef, buildup or bioherm framestone in the Arguis Formation of Spain.
