Dakoticancer overanus

Taxonomy
Dakoticancer overana was named by Rathbun (1917). Its type specimen is USNM 32055, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Indian Creek, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marine shale in the Pierre Shale Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Dakoticancer.

It was corrected as Dakoticancer overanus by Bishop (1972) and Feldmann et al. (2017).
