Latheticocarcinus punctatus
Taxonomy
Homolopsis punctata was named by Rathbun (1917). Its type specimen is USNM 32058, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Eastern Corson County, which is in a Maastrichtian marine shale in the Pierre Shale Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Metahomola punctata by Collins and Wienberg Rasmussen (1992); it was recombined as Homola punctata by Schweitzer (2001); it was recombined as Latheticocarcinus punctatus by Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Feldmann et al. (2012).
