Taxonomy
Pecopteris (Alethopteris) indica was named by Oldham and Morris (1862). It is not extant. Its type locality is Bindraban, which is in a Jurassic fluvial horizon in India.

It was recombined as Alethopteris indica by Feistmantel (1877); it was recombined as Todites indicus by Bose and Sah (1968), Lakhanpal et al. (1976); it was recombined as Cladophlebis indica by Fontaine (1896), Knowlton (1919), Chandra and Tewari (1991).
