Taxonomy
Entoptychus rostratus was named by Sinclair (1905). Its type specimen is UCMP 1651, a partial skull (Cranium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Entoptychus sperryi by Wood (1936); it was synonymized subjectively with Entoptychus planifrons by Rensberger (1971).
