Taxonomy
Gerastos aintawilus was named by Gibb and Chatterton (2010). Its type specimen is UA13454 (complete exoskeleton) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is BD5, which is in an Eifelian shallow subtidal wackestone/mudstone in the El Otfal Formation of Morocco.
