Taxonomy
Gerastos malisjildus was named by Gibb and Chatterton (2010). Its type specimen is UA 13293 (complete exoskeleton) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thysanopeltis horizon, Zireg, which is in an Eifelian marine mudstone in the Taboumakhlouf Formation of Morocco.
