Taxonomy
Asaphus homfrayi was named by Salter (1866) [Lectotype selected by Morris 1988]. Its type specimen is SM A1266 (lectotype) and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Asaphellus homfrayi by Callaway (1877), Hutchinson (1952) and Robison and Pantoja-Alor (1968).
