Taxonomy
Apatokephalus sarculum was named by Fortey and Owens (1991). Its type specimen is NMW 86.27G.14, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coundmoor Brook, which is in a Migneintian slope shale in the Shineton Shales Formation of the United Kingdom.
