Rijckholtia was named by Donovan and Van Den Hoek Ostende (2010). Its type is Proetus ryckholti.

Synonyms

Coniproetus (Ryckholtia) was named by Snajdr (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-u D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 933 [nec Fritsch 1910, a mollusc]]. Its type is Proetus ryckholti.

It was reranked as Ryckholtia by Jell and Adrain (2002), Sepkoski (2002); it was replaced with Rijckholtia by Donovan and Van Den Hoek Ostende (2010).

It was assigned to Coniproetus by Snajdr (1980); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
