Taxonomy
Araumyelon pakurense was named by Bohra and Sharma (1980). It is not extant. Its type locality is Sonajori, Pakur, which is in a Jurassic fluvial horizon in the Rajmahal Formation of India.
It was recombined as Arautamyelon pakurense by Bohra and Sharma (1989), Sharma (1989), Chandra and Tewari (1991).
